What are latex balloons?

Latex balloons are the most widely used balloon for parties and events. Made from natural rubber, they're biodegradable and available in more colors, sizes, and finishes than any other balloon type.

Foil Balloons

What are foil balloons?

Foil balloons (also called mylar balloons) are made from a metallic-coated material that holds air and helium far longer than latex.

Hi-Float: Get More Time Out of Every Balloon

What is Hi-Float, and how does it work?

Hi-Float is a liquid coating applied to the inside of a latex balloon before it's inflated with helium. It seals the latex from the inside, slowing the rate helium escapes and dramatically extending float time.

  • Can extend float time from hours to potentially days, depending on conditions
  • Included automatically with our in-store helium inflation service
  • Especially useful for arches, columns, and bouquets that need to hold up for a full event

Latex vs. Foil: Which Should You Choose?

Choose latex if:

  • You need a large quantity of balloons
  • You're building an arch, garland, or organic design
  • You want the widest range of colors
  • You're looking for a budget-friendly option

Choose foil if:

  • You want a themed or character balloon
  • You need letters or numbers
  • You want the longest possible float time
  • You want a standout centerpiece piece

Many of the best balloon displays combine both. Foil for the statement pieces, latex for volume and color.

Tips for Making Balloons Last Longer

  • Keep balloons indoors whenever possible.
  • Avoid extreme heat, cold, and direct sunlight. Temperature swings cause balloons to expand, contract, or pop before their time.
  • Use Hi-Float on any helium-filled latex balloon to significantly extend float time, especially important for arches and columns that need to last the whole event.
  • Handle balloons carefully. Keep them away from sharp objects, jewelry, and rough surfaces.
  • Transport balloons in a clean vehicle, away from anything sharp. The back seat is always safer than the trunk.
  • Use balloon weights on arches and columns to keep the structure stable and secure throughout the event.
